Hamas has successfully provoked Israel into a war. Both sides now use the deaths and suffering to provoke us to take action, to take sides. God help us! God help us who want to make life better but see others who are provoked making life worse. I cannot sleep but I can write. How can I make things better? Let me quote from Saint Paul, Philippians 4:4–8.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.”

Thanks for sharing your thoughts—I hope that the new year brings peace. We all seem to be in foxwholes unable to do much to help the Middle East move toward peaceful resolutions. But thanks for your photo prayers they always lift my spirit. Even if we have assurance that God’s will is done, we should not be passive.
