On March 3, on March 12, and again on March 19, 2026, Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wilmington, North Carolina published my Photo Prayers as three of its Lenten Reflections. That’s a bit of a thrill for this author, to see his words and images find a new audience among Christians observing Lent, a season of reflection.

Danny, thank you for being part of Lenten Reflections – and I hope that you will become a “regular” in years to come. Seems to me that true patriots fly into the wind so that they are lifted up and stretched out. I use Hour by Hour as the base for my morning prayers. This morning, Isaiah put words in God’s mouth saying, “So my word goes forth from my mouth; it will not return to me empty. But will accomplish that which I have purposed, and prosper in that for which I sent it.” Change is in the air. It will be long, hard, and painful, but it is coming. May we all do our part to make it prosper.

It is also gratifying that three years has not weakened what the author had to say then. Alas, it is still true that the author wishes he trusted his heart more and his mind less. As for the flags, the monument blocks the wind, which curls back towards it after passing around either side, so all the flags do not fly to the right. I leave it to the reader to figure out why all patriots do not fly to the right.

I have often thought that. This ocean, this waterfall, this downpour, this cool drink I enjoy, this toilet water was already used by Jesus in all his humanity.

Danny, good reflection. Your photo-reflections are a favorite this year at St. Paul’s here in North Carolina. There has not been a day yet when I have not gotten positive feedback. God’s peace — and prayers that more people come to understand that we are all connected to God’s web. We ARE all God’s children.
