Deep thinkers like you and me are fond of our ancient Greek philosophers, our Socrates, our Plato, but if we are also Christian, we believe that the Ideal is not separate from this world. We start with Jesus, God incarnate, the Word made flesh on Christmas Day, celebrated at every Eucharist with bread and wine, material things we believe are holy and blessed. Outside of church we seek to make God’s will incarnate, on earth as it is in heaven. Every ordinary action, every project, seeks to make an idea incarnate. We find the world welcomes ideas and gives us things, tools, and helpers, perhaps not what we had imagined but somehow better because what materializes is real. If we pay close attention, and even when we do not, God is there in the process, the Holy Spirit playful in her inspirations, helpful, encouraging, revealing, down to earth.
