Where will we stop tonight? As we toured the USA last spring, we often did not know where we would rest our heads until we got there. During the first week, we would book a room a day in advance using Expedia. We could do that while driving! So civilized. But we could never tell what the pet surcharge would be for our small dog using Expedia. Some hotels charged as much as forty dollars, though ten to twenty was normal.
So we started calling hotels. Towards the end of our wanderings, we decided we liked Best Western motels the best. We would not make reservations, but just show up. Usually rooms were available.
This photo, of my wife checking her phone, was taken in Danville, Illinois on the morning of Day 38 of our 39-day trip.
