I am very fond of the big open skies found in the American West. The expansive vistas open my soul. So when I was recuperating from bronchitis in Las Vegas during our drive around the USA, it was a pleasure to sit in a patio chair and watch clouds move in stately processions towards the east as the sun set in the west.
The whole sky was open before me. Many thousands of feet tall, these clouds dwarf mountains and our ambitions. Because they are not fixed, they do not become tourist attractions. They are not preserved as national monuments. They remain nameless. No one offers helicopter tours for a better view.
