This juxtaposition of a gun store and a school bus got me stewing.
There is a mindset that says, “If I have to suffer, others have to suffer.” To me, in school shootings, a twisted sense of justice seems to be involved, perhaps a revenge against life for not living up to its promise, or a lashing out at a society that is not suffering like the shooter has been suffering, a society that needs to hurt, needs to know what it is like.
The attitude I imagine is “I am going down but I am not going alone. I am going to hit society where it hurts most!” That seems to be the mindset, the logic of these shooters. We are meant to be hurt. We are meant to suffer. God help us!
The photo is from Day 34 of our 39 days on the road, April 26, 2023 in Ault, Colorado, a peaceful town that deserves better than to be connected with a short essay about sadistic, vengeful killers and their mindsets.
